- There is now an essay portion, graded by humans, that kicks the whole morning off.
- They actually ask a lot less demographic-type questions in the packet you fill out at the beginning of the test, as well.
- The math sections do seem a little harder, but thankfully my skills are better than they were In The Year 2000.
- The reading portions, easier in general, and easier for me, too.

Yeah... people look at me weird when I say that I could probably get a 1600 on the SAT if I applied myself.
Now, a 2400 is a perfect score. ;-)
um, maybe my brain is fried from my final exams, but... 1600 IS the perfect score. I'm guessing your wink-y face implies that you know that, but I have no idea what I'm even saying or why I'm even still at school.
The new writing section is scored like the old verbal and math sections.
Writing (800) + Math (800) + Verbal (800) = 2400
Most colleges don't count the writing score towards the total, since it is still relatively new.
the proctors said that the writing portion is 10% of the grade
Well, I am not sure how the score is scaled, but this leads me to believe that each section is worth 800 points:
